In the 1911 census he was the son of William Needham and Maud Mary Bailey, aged 14, at school, born Burham, South Shields, living with his family at 63 Maids Causeway, Cambridge.

Buried in FINS NEW BRITISH CEMETERY, SOREL-LE-GRAND, Somme.

He passed his final solicitor's examination in 1911, and leaving Cambridge the following year, began practice at Birmingham and Leyburn. Buried in FLESQUIERES HILL BRITISH CEMETERY, Nord, France.
